River was very low and water temperature also very warm. Plenty of algae and weed in eddies and slow moving areas of the beat. Only fished late afternoon and evening. Not too many canoeists which made a good change. The weather was terrible, arrived in bright sun and within two hours it was thundering and lightning with huge downpour. River came up a couple of inches and loads and debris washed in which coloured water. Really struggled to get a bite and only got two fish, one chub on the float with corn and one barbel on the feeder with pellet.

A peaceful day on Lower Canon Bridge but interrupted by a violent thunderstorm and very welcome splash of water..
We were not disturbed by any boat traffic or fish...
A lovely beat but we kind of have the feeling the fish are just not here in this current state of river.
But no complaints we enjoyed the wildlife and view of the manicured garden on the opposite bank and appreciate the efforts made to make this a great stretch to fish.

River conditions not ideal, but great beat with interesting swims. Just one eel caught. Thunderstorm and torrential rain put paid to the evening session.

River at a very low level. The margins of some of the gravel banks are starting to become covered in silkweed. Took an enforced 2 hour car break in the afternoon as a heavy thunderstom passed over. Two of the chub were only small. Legered meat and pellets the method.

Unfortunately this stretch was really suffering from the low rainfall this summer. Thousands of fry and minnows but the only sizable fish I saw were in the few heavily wooded areas.
With another few feet of water in it I'm am sure this would be a peach. I fished from the opposite end moving upstream towards the Severn Arms. Some walking involved and some scrapping with undergrowth but it's all part of the experience!
