Managed to spend the late afternoon on the river which looked in good nick. However, despite there being the occasional evidence of a light hatch there were no fish rising and although I tried just about every dry and nymph flies I had, I managed to tempt absolutely nothing. Lovely stretch of river though and I will be back to try again.

The fishing started slowly, only catching a 2lb Chub in the morning. The river was high and moving at a strong pace.
I moved several times trying to find a swim with a slack area off the fast current. I finally found a swim that was down a steep
bank and made a clearing. The weather was warm now after earlier drizzle. I fed the swim with Hemp and fished trout
pellet on a 10lb main line with 8lb bottom and had my first Barbel at about 4.30pm. All barbel were over 8lb, the biggest
being 9lb. They all put up a great fight in the strong current. A very enjoyable day with great scenery.

Water dropped sufficiently to make fishing possible though wading was hard work in places. A little colour with the bottom disappearing in about 2ft of water.
Five trout caught, three around the 12oz Mark and two a little over 1lb.

Paid £20 each due to the ticket machine not excepting £5 notes or coins, was trying to get 2 x 4 fish permits but couldn't, ticket machine would only accept £20 notes, this clealy needs sorting as this has happened twice now anyway fished to 3.30 pm nice day after the rain stopped in the morning but only caught 1 fish by R . S, a few bites but nothing else, a tad breezy as well. Disappointed with only 1 but better than last times 0, will be back in pct before the season ends
