Fished from 2pm to 6pm and moved fairly quickly over whole beat. Very overgrown but some pools very castable. 3 fish caught up to 10". The largest caught in the short bit of The Monnow at the start of the beat. No hatch at all and quite hot conditions with little breeze. All fish came up for a dry green olive.

Wonderful setting and great variety of sections with good access. Had some eels taking our pellets and fun also had sight fishing for large chub and barbel in the upstream section, bewitching stuff. Will be back...

Lovely day weatherwise at usk reservoir but unfortunately no fish. Took my grand daughter aged 9 and did not have a bite all day. Tried several different spots but no joy. Tried spinning and worm.

The River was back to its clear and low usual summer state so quite hard work to find the fish. Beautiful stretch of water; one of the highlights was a Kingfisher landing on my Son's rod. I've never seen that before.

Barbel from 8oz to 6lb, Chub to around 3lb.

River up a bit from the previous week. Weather very warm and unrelentingly sunny (despite towering clouds to east and west). Fishing in the woodland, I started at around 16.00, but not a touch until 20.00, when the first bite resulted in a barbel of 7-8. Quiet again until 21.00 when I had three fish on before close of play. Unfortunately two were lost when the hook link was broken on the numerous sharp rocks. However the final bite brought a good fish of 8-14, so I left with a smile on my face.

A beautiful tranquil location for which we had perfect weather, just a light breeze and broken cloud. As well as a 4WD the other essential bit of kit here are waders, it's very boggy all around the lake. Plenty of fish were rising all day, taking a shuttlecock emerger (3) and flying ants (1) with the remaining six on the wet with a Bibio point fly, steadfastly ignoring other wet flies on the droppers. There seemed to be a lot more activity on the deeper western shore than on the east. Aggressive takes and beautifully coloured feisty fish with a good number lost too. Perfect.
