Arrived at dawn after very early start. River 0.7m and falling. Carrying too much colour for fly but persevered anyway. Fished hard for 8 hrs punctuated by a delightful kip on the bank at halftime.
Saw 4 fish in total on Rock and 12 in total below the bridge various sizes and hues.(one 20lb below cables) Mostly runners I suspect.Got drenched 3 times and river held its colour. Had a beautiful 11/2lb brownie at end ,safely returned. Prospects excellent for tomorrow . Go gettum Gary!

Fished fly up the top end, conditions looked great, a warm damp day with good cloud cover. But for a full day's fishing, using every method I could muster I caught no trout, had one knock on a lure and caught one small perch.

I only saw half a dozen fish move all day. Where are the fish? Its a massive reservoir and when you have no action you begin to wonder if you are chucking your flies at empty water. A shame really cos I love fishing this venue and want to continue to do so.

We were lucky to see some rain this weekend and I had booked LLangoed in the hope of seeing plenty of movement. To my amazement there were just about no fish in evidence at all. I saw a couple of small rises and one smallish salmon and that was it. I caught 6 trout up to 1/2 lb, one of which was a bluey silvery colour. I can't believe it was a smolt; they've all gone now surely. Could it be a 'blue trout'?

All taken on a dry fly, and all returned to the river (barbless hooks). One Trout was over two pounds and one Grayling nearly one and a half pounds - the others all takers but smaller. Water lower than the day before, but still dangerous and difficult to wade.

Complete blank - fair bit of water had gone into the river in 24hours so possible a temperature change turned the fish off the feed?

Shame, stretch look nice, easy manageable swims and some lovely deeper runs off the main flow but only one real whack on the tip all day, what I managed to miss.

I was hoping that Friday's rain would be put a bit of life into the river but, in spite of a pulse of water going through on Saturday, come Sunday morning, it was back down at 3 point something on the Byton gauge.

I had to work harder for my fish today; and had the impression that I was covering water that had been fished recently. No reports on Wye & Usk of anyone fishing on Saturday - so perhaps it was the occupants of the cottage? With the exception of a fast run just below the weir; where I had half a dozen fish in not much more than half a dozen casts, none of the multiple catches I associate with Lyepole - with a number of banker runs failing to produce.

Most of the Grayling were in the 7-8 inch class. Ditto for the Trout. I fished a Size 14 tungsten Endrick Spider on point with a Size 16 Snipe & Purple on dropper; with the majority of the Grayling taking the point fly and, if memory serves, all of the Trout except one taking the dropper.

As ever, the above figures are an estimate - these days I struggle counting past 5

First time fishing the beat. 1 trout on a Parra Adams. Had a quick session at 7am but there wasn't much activity so returned at 6pm. There was plenty of insect activity on the surface but not a lot of action. 5 trout raised but only managed to hook 1.
