No action on the dry, so both trout to copper head mary nymph, small but feisty. Pretty part of the river.

A quick hour after work and a nice 6lb grilse from the Orchard on a Airflo Skagit with a T10 tip and a Francis

River at a nice height and a little coloured after some recent rain. Five trout to 10" on beadhead red tag.

5 Trout

Coloured water but looked a good height. No salmon seen although looked promising below the island.lots of hungry trout up to 1.5lbs.enjoyable day.

10 Trout

River high and coloured. DIdn't see any fish moving. Trout, about 1/2lb caught on large nymph using a fast sinking tip.

17 Barbel

After being washed-off the previous day the river had dropped more than a foot overnight and had cleared, though still carried some colour. Caught two brown trout in the first hour, one of 12" the other 16", both on spiders. Thought I was in for a really good day but took nothing else, despite a few knocks and pulls.

2 Trout

The river rose by about half a meter and the pace increased from mid morning until late afternoon. Most of the fish were caught as the river level was increasing. The best barbel was estimated as 7.08 and all fish were caught using feeder and pellets. Very nice stretch of the Wye with plenty of wildlife to make the day even more interesting.

14 Barbel, 2 Chub

4 of the barbel caught on this beat were around the 1.5lb mark which really does bode well for the future! Fished a number of swims and despite unintentionally dipping a leg in the river on one of the wooded swims, we had an enjoyable day. Most fish came from the upper stretches of this beat, usual pellet and feeder tactics. Biggest barbel matched our biggest fish the previous day on another beat.......8lb 8oz. Perfect end to our 3 day trip to the River Wye.
