Conditions could hardly be better! How many times have you heard that this year?
Not a touch for us as we covered the water with a selection of flies and Mick's advice in our ears.

Spinning and fly fishing for Salmon. 0.778 on redbrook guage. Water clear. Cloudy sky. Sometime strong wind blowing downstream. Only fish seen was a large shoal of chub. The entry point at the top of the beat is dangerous. Bank has been washed away and thick mud, ankle deep is a trap.

Cool overcast day, but flies were hatching throughout. Not many trout rising, so prospected with para dries or targeted risers where I could. Landed 6 and missed as many, 5 were 9/10" and one hard fighter of 13". Quiet but satisfying day.

Light rain lasted until 3pm but it then broke out into a beautiful evening. I saw salmon in the Mill Stream and Rectory Pool but sadly none fancied my fly. However, five dace and one chubb clearly liked a salmon double with a silver hook and a blue dressing. One dace was at least 2lbs and all of them put up a good scrap. (WUF note might have been shad?)
1 Chub, 4 Other
