Fish taken on nymphs at the bottom of the beat at the start of the day. Over night rain started to colour the water and the fish went off the feed. Got to try out a new nymphing rod with different leader set ups so it wasn't a wasted day.

River lovely and clear but hardly a fis rising despite some good hatches. Small fish down by the church and a few up by the fallen oak . Met a fellow angler who was trotting maggots for the first time having some fun with larger fish.
Having taken his advise I fished a heavy tungsten nymph through a swim he has caught a 2 lb fish in and having thought i had hooked the bottom ( it moved) managed to land my own 2lb grayling . The rod was a 10 ft 2 wt so some fun was had
A lovely autumn day .

Great day long trotting. River had come down nicely after Tuesday's rain and was running pretty clear. Very light wind meant very few leaves in the water which can be an issue at this time of year. Best grayling nearly 2lbs, several 1 to 1.5lbs all in good condition and pretty lively. Got broken by a really hefty fish after it went mid stream and performed all sorts of stunts, unfortunately left the hook ( I assume ) in its mouth. Meeting the other angler on the beat, Bill, later in the day he caught a cracking 2lb fish in the same location that I had been broken, with a hook complete with fresh red maggot lodged in upper lip! Fish returned safely, if not quite tired after its exertions. Salmon showing themselves several times during the day. Lovely beat

All looked good with the river falling with a bit of colour after the spate, and a cloudy mild day. Started with feeder and pellet, but no result after an hour or two and switched to meat. Hooked and lost two chub in the same tree roots. Bullied the next two away from the bank and landed them. Chub bites ceased in late afternoon so I returned to pellet and feeder. On the last cast of the day I had my only barbel bite and was into a good fish. Mindful of my experience with the chub I foolishly put too much pressure on to keep it away from the bank and the hooklink snapped. Not the day I had anticipated at the beginning!

Fishing for Pike, but they weren't in the mood today. Not a single bite. Flow was a little pacey for them.

Made welcome by house near sawmill and pointed in right direction . Quite tricky wading though very beautiful on this bright November day. Excellent lunch eagles pub in Rhayader and mesmerising visit to red kite feeding station.

What a perfect day: warm November sun and a river in prime condition. This is a great beat to trot a maggot down but I wouldn't fancy my chances with a fly rod! I caught all day and the fish were high quality all were over half a pound and two of the WBT were over 1.5lb. It was pretty easy going: I fished 3lb line straight through on a 10ft rod and centrepin : such a lovely way to fish. Thanks to The Foundation once again for a fabulous day. Not my last visit this winter I hope. All my fish bar two were caught upstream of the bridge.

A cold and frosty start with the sun appearing throughout the day. Fished duo during the morning resulting in 4 Grayling between 10 and 13 inches, all coming to # 16 nymphs fished close to the bottom and in the tail of the 2nd pool. Moved up to the big pool and struggled to find one 12” Trout to a nymph and one more small grayling to a # 16 Griffiths gnat at the tail of the pool. Notably a Gray Duster was capsized by a salmon which seemed to be holding station in shallow water and which appeared again later.
