2 Grayling

Last day of a 5 Day trip on a falling River. Surely today was going to be a slower day for aching arms after the previous 4 action filled days on the Wye. The three Whiskerteers from Yorkshire signed off in style. Barbel from the off fell to all three rods through out this beat ,applauded by the on looking Kingfishers perching on the odd branch to watch the action before joining in .Pellet feeder was king today. Five days on the mighty Wye brought a total of 202 Barbel and 43 Chub to three rods. What can i say Dream fishing at its best. Thank you Wye & Usk back in Oct when i have recovered.

River conditions excellent; unfortunately also ideal for canoes. However, this didn't seem to put off the barbel as the best fish came whilst canoes were thrashing about in the swim, mid-afternoon! Eight barbel plus an eel, best fish 8.12.

10 lb slightly coloured fish from the Island run, Cascade .

River at 1ft 8" and 30" visibility. Started well with a 10-11lb coloured hen fish from the Island stream at 6.30am. Only fshed Island, Rock and Bridge and then it was 8.30am and time to go to work. River coming in nicely but not much showing; only saw 2, both between the stones and the wires in Bridge.

Not a bad day. Caught 3 on polly ball and worm. And 2 on spinner

5 Trout

Been wanting to fish this pool for quite a while now. My brother & I booked a day to try it out, didn't catch any fish on this occasion, we tried a few methods & different baits (sweetcorn & pellets).

A lovely pool & location. Will give it another go to see if we have more luck.

Fish were rising at the beginning of the day and taking very small insects mostly at the tails of the pools. Everything went quiet from midday until 2.00pm and then it was all go until 5.00pm. Ten days ago I was wondering where the trout were after only catching grayling on the Irfon but today was the opposite.

Trout were mostly small but plentiful. I lost more than I caught and the biggest at 12" came to a size 12 silver sedge the rest were caught on a selection of size 18 dries. The 9" grayling had a size 18 para Adams in fairly fast water. There were 5 goosanders on the water.
