Fished down twice on Rock pool, Mill stream, Rectory neck and Gravel catch . Lost something which initially felt like a rock on the lower Mill stream but which turned out to be a good fish. Unfortunately it 'pinged' off after 30 secs with a hefty splash in place of a two fingered gesture.

Got our usual swims, and even moved from these after canoe time but not one bite between us. Warm and overcast, good flow, tried the baits that have worked well here for us in previous years, 220 mile round trip, but not a single bite....... will have to think twice about coming again.

River conditions were good although river on the low side and early down pour may have not helped. Found fishing hard but managed to bring two small trout from the faster water on a small Black Beetle style fly. Both released. Was fishing on the other bank - to fishing hut , as was uneasy in using main parking area as track to river very slippery so decided to move out in case I couldn't get out as car is not FWD. Fished till 5 o'clock when the sky cleared. An enjoyable day.

Great days fishing after the struggle we had here on Wednesday. All the barbel came from the concrete walkway and were caught steadily through the day. Had to put up with the diesel pump going most of the day, but a small price to pay for the quality of fishing. We've had a great few days on the Wye once again. We always stay at the Falcon House B&B at How Caple which is situated just right for a lot of beats.
We'll be back !!
