Fished the Leaning Willow pool at Gromain. Caught no fish but saw four running through the pool. River high with quite a bit of colour. Fell in and lost my pipe and a box of flies. Forget the flies, but if anyone finds my pipe, keep it for me please.

Fished evening session, good place to take my son to catch his first river barbel. River was up a bit but not coloured. Fished bottom pool. Feeder and pellet halfway across. Needed 3 oz to hold due to extra flow. Majority of fish were 8 oz to 1.5 lb. Biggest 5.5 lb which my son caught so nice pic for the album. Hopefully the large stocks of small fish mean the wye will be a good barbel river for years to come. I normally fish the Yorkshire rivers where it is unusual to see a barbel under 3 lb and you are fishing for one or two fish a session.

The river levels were low and the water relatively clear, though the flow increased during the day. We fished halibut pellets over feeder fed halibut groudbait and pellets. No fish in morning from the orchard field. Five takes in the afternoon from the lower field of which four barbel were landed (4-9 lb). Three barbel and two chub were landed in the evening from the orchard field. Noticed a considerable number of lice on the barbel. Superb day's fishing.

Fishing:Trout (Stillwater)

No. of Anglers:3

Having parked at the southwestern parking slot close to the bird observation hide the three of us then fished the SW section of the reservoir and the inlet river in dry, breezy conditions from 11.00am - 4.00pm.
Two of the fish came from the inlet river.
Although there were few rising fish the most successful method was found to be an emerger fly drawn across the ripples by the wind.
