River was brown but fining from flood. This is a lovely stretch of river, but challenging fishing, with lots of overhanging trees and roots underwater. It's a pretty small stream on this beat. Caught four on the duo (nymph and dry fly), lost several more, and missed many takes. Best fish was around 25cm, but lost a larger one that dived into a tangle of roots. Take a good stock of your favourite flies, as the trees will eat them!

Only fished the top and the bottom ends of the beat, for around an hour. Water was brown and fining from flood. The top part of the beat is very challenging, as it is severely overhung with trees. Caught two on the duo (nymph and dry fly), lost a couple more, and missed a few takes. One was 30cm, a really nice fish. The bottom end is slightly more open and has some lovely pools - shame I didn't spend a bit a bit more time here. The farmer hasn't been super kind to fishermen with the fences along this beat.

Last minute decision to fish so got there at lunch. Weather was very wet so fished safe swims rather than best looking ones as on my own after walking length of beat.
However cannot see what all complaints were about. Caught steadily throughout afternoon and I imagine the prime spots would be full of fish.

Arrived to find the river coloured and pushing through, so we concentrated on roving along the inside line. All fish taken on feeder tactics with mini boilie hookbaits. Lost a number of other fish and a fair bit of gear in snags. Overall a challenging but rewarding day.

We caught 19 barbel and 2 chub between us, with most fish between 5 and 7lb, and a best of 9lb. River up and with a little colour after the rain. Fish fed steadily all day at the top end of the beat.
