I spent from 12noon - 2.30pm on The Dulas hoping to find swarms of Danica but was unlucky. Perhaps they've all emerged as only occasional imagos were evident. The stream was very low and seemed almost lifeless - perhaps with such low flow there is a lack of oxygen.
The three rising fish seen all fell to Mike Weaver's hackled Mayfly pattern and the fourth was lifted from the depths of a deep pool with a weighted Endrick Spider.
The recent high winds have created more work for the clearing gang next winter with some quite large trees across the stream - but I can report that they don't restrict the fishing too much for the present time.

Back on the Usk after 45 years!
Very little fly life and only saw 5 fish move. Rose and caught two on a jingler, but really hard work due to an increasingly stiff downstream wind.

6 x BT between 9 and 12 inches, all returned safely. One on mayfly and 5 on Adams. Downstream wind and bright sun made conditions difficult until around 4.30 pm when the fish came on the feed.

Lots of fly life but most rises seemed to be fry. Persisted with the dry too long. Eventually went to the dark side and switched to a Walkers Mayfly Nymph and took 3 WBT from where the Escley joins.

Beaten again by the wind on the Arrow. A few fish rising between the bridges as I arrived at 3pm and one WBT 9" to hand on a mayfly pattern. Increasing wind seemed to put the fish down and all very quiet at 7:30 and didn't feel like a late rise was on the cards so called it a day.

Conditions reasonable but a bit bright for most of the day.
Very few mayfly about and even fewer rising fish. Fished for the 'mayfly experience'- didn't happen.
