River low and clear. Mostly cloudy with a few light showers. I did not expect a very good day in view of the conditions, but a couple of fish in the afternoon raised my hopes and persuaded me to remain where I was. Despite changing baits and methods I had nothing else, although I stayed until darkness fell.

Water quite low and clear so fished the end pool amongst the fast flow. I caught many small barbel but a few around 4lb, lost a fair few too. They were great fun in the faster water. Also fished from the crib, across towards the far trees in a deep run, the bigger fish swim to hold up there. needed 4oz to hold in the flow, all fish caught on pellet and feeder/bomb. Many thanks to Don for all his advice and tips over my time fishing across Courtfield and Wyebank, much appreciated ????

A difficult day on a low and very clear river. I started trying to catch a fw chub on floatfished bread but never managed a single bite on any of the swims I tried, the strong downstream wind didn’t help but there’s usually a mug fish somewhere. Baited and tried several swims I have caught from before for barbel but only managed a single fish around 5lbs at 6.00pm. The other angler had a very good day further downstream so it just goes to how location is the key.
Despite the lack of fish it is always a pleasure to be on the river at this time of year

Though I've not fished it a lot I find Doldowlod very reliable for a few grayling in Autumn. With the forecast east wind pretty much non existent it was quite mild and there were a few flies hatching when I started at 1pm so it was a good sign to catch a 10" grayling in the first few casts at the downstream limit of the beat. Very few fish showed at the surface but did seem to be feeding as I caught fish steadily through the afternoon. I mostly stuck to the relatively shallow faster water rather than the slow moving flats or gutters. Almost all fish took a weighted red tag on the point, one or two took an olive spider on the middle dropper. Most fish were around the 12" mark with a couple at 14". The two out of season trout were about 10".

River very low and clear and night temperatures near below 5c meant that we expected to struggle and we did. Only fish landed was an average chub but one barbel lost demonstrated that they could be tempted, so we will return tomorrow for another try. Lack of fish action didn't detract from our enjoyment of this lovely stretch though.
