The weather was perfect, but the river was very low and gin clear so the fish were easily spooked. Small nymph patterns fished deep proved the best method, with individual fish taken from various swims across the beat. Perhaps too early for the grayling to form shoals?

A lovely day with fish rising in the afternoon to a small but prolonged LDO hatch from 1-3 p.m. Before that, grayling from 14-16" were taken in some of the deeper waters, Czech nymphing with two heavy bugs. During the olive hatch, 10-14" grayling and one 14" BT took small dark olive and pale HE Duck's Duns. A thoroughly enjoyable day albeit totally eclipsed by Saturday's showing, French nymphing by Shaun (great work on improving the beat Shaun) and P from Abercynon (a Welsh International I understand) - I need to get my head around this French Nymphing stuff for sure!! Well done guys.

Another cold start, started fishing at around 7am in the legg meadow end but failed to get any action on this bright and sunny day until 6:45PM, when I had a barbel of 10lb 2oz. Quickly followed by a chub of around 3lb, then quiet for the remainder of the session. Tried rolling baits during the day but to no avail. I saw maybe as many as 12 salmon jumping throughout the day.

We arrived to find a hard frost which was a bit of a shock. Fishing was hard for the morning. A few fish located however, we struggled for bites. Two trout came to trotting a float through and late on a 8lb 4oz Barbel was caught on pellet. Overall we enjoyed the day, beautiful surroundings and wildlife. We will return next season for another day on this lovely stretch and also investigate other beats you control on the Wye. Think we are now hooked on the magic of the place. Thank you.

River low and clear, a cold night before. Fishing very hard as on all Wye that week. Lovely stretch, no canoes all day. Saw two otters, plenty of bird life, great scenery and think the stretch could be good in the right conditions. Plenty of variety in river, shallows, deeps etc. Will visit again. Few fish to float fished maggots off croy swim.

Very cold conditions did not bode well and this turned out to be a very tough day. One angler took a chub trotting double maggot on his second cast and one angler took a 5lb barbel after 2 hours on a pellet. Other than that it was a very quiet day.

Warm, pleasant, Autumn day with no wind. River on the low side but with a decent flow. Barbel on the first and last cast of the day with a few chub in between, caught on pellet and feeder. The last fish was 9-12 which capped a perfect day in lovely surroundings.
