Suprisingly few rises all day in what seemed to be near perfect conditions. I did find that rising fish were more than willing to take though. As mentioned in the report below there were some mayfly hatching but these were mainly in the afternoon and not in large numbers. I did manage to take 2 on a mayfly later in the day. I am quite new to river fly fishing and it was great to get some tips from the other rod on the beat. We were both banking on a hearty sandwich in the Bell where we met for lunch but had to settle for a healthy meal of a slice of cake and crisps as they were catering for a wedding! We compared notes and I fished the upper half of the beat in the afternoon which was more productive. A beautiful spot and some great sport. Thanks for the tips David.

Mixed days fishing with little activity on the surface despite the good conditions. Had several fish mainly on a GRHE fished in the faster water.

Very bright, hot conditions, clear water made for a challenging day but a lovely spot. Trickle of fly life and little fish movement. 3 trout and 2 what looked like salmon parr. Success with parachute adams and cdc and elk in mid to lower reaches.

This is my second trip within a few weeks. Caught 1 fish on each occasion both returned to the water, it seems an evening session would be more productive. This is a nice place to fish & I note that it is no longer stocked & reading the feedback for this water there seems to be quite a lot of fish caught. If fish are being taken & poaching has to enter the equation how long will the present stock last? This is a relatively small reservoir & shallow & I think a catch & release policy should apply before we all lose out.

Cold north easterly, only saw a handful of rises. All taken on a tungsten bead quill nymph under an indicator.

Nil return. Managed to rise five fish but sadly none of them stuck. Fished 3pm - 7pm. A trickle of mayflies coming off all day to add to the prolific fly life on this pretty bit of river. Nice to see the fallen willow at the bottom of the beat has been cleared away. Surprisingly absolutely nothing doing in the weir pool. Highlight of the evening was watching a kingfisher comprehensively out-fishing me.

Hot, bright sunshine so not ideal conditions. Very little fly life and only a few fish rising. Had to leave before prime time. Lovely stretch of water. Note the white gate in the guide notes does not exist and access is very overgrown.

River 0.6m slight tint. Two or three fish showing on Rock and one by the big Boulder below the bridge. Felt in with a chance on a cool dull morning but all offers refused. Not much trouty activity. Retired with our finned friends laughing at us on a sunny afternoon.
