Thank you to Mick for an enjoyable day. 7 inches on Fownhope gauge with moderate tint of colour in the river still. 4th cast of the day with a small yellow and black tube into the Vanstone Pool hooked a decent fish. I was a bit over eager for my 15 year old son to land his first salmon which may have happened but for my antiquated reel. Next time I will play the fish out a bit more and have purchased a new reel! 1 shad caught in the evening.

2 Trout, 1 Pike

My favourite beat but a slight shame it is shorter. Could have done with a coppice last winter as in places more overgrown than usual. Three fish in an afternoons fishing on mayfly. Largest well over a pound.

River was a little coloured in the morning so spinning the better option. Saw a number of fresh run fish, one around the 15lb mark.

Caught 1 rainbow trout weighing 3 pounds caught on a size 1 Meppershall.

Another nice fish 16/17 lb fresh from the sea took the fly well.

Tough conditions with the river low and clear and the sun shinning. Late afternoon a few fish started rising and I managed three good sized fish to a dry (John Barnes Jingler) with a couple of other larger fish lost.

3 Trout

Approx 2 hours dry fly during early evening. Occasional rises despite abundant insect life.

1 Grayling

Some sporadic rises throughout the day but nothing prolonged. A beautiful stretch of water. One take on a submerged yellow mayfly dun! Well worth a second visit when the conditions are a little different.
