Beat:Lyepole
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:1
None caught, only a couple of takes: grayling on bead head nymph. Weather almost perfect and conditions were good, although the river was still a little cloudy. Fish began to rise late morning following a reasonable hatch. Plenty of sign of otters (footprints) but unfortunately did not see one. Beautiful part of Herefordshire - will certainly return.

8 x trout 6-8 inches on Rusty Klinkhammer size 16. Plus one salmon smolt, all silvered up ready to go to sea...once there is a bit of water to wash it down. Quite difficult today with cold temperatures overnight and the river very low and clear.

A cool wind and increasingly overcast conditions meant very little fly life. Team of spiders with weighted nymph on point yielded nothing. Went through the whole menu with regards size and patterns, depth but still nothing doing, not even the faintest of tugs. We both saw an otter in different parts of the beat in the morning, we wanted to ask him where all the fish were but he slid off before we could speak! This is a stunningly beautiful beat with plenty of features and variety along its length. If I do return it will be later in the year as mid April is too early.

Warm and sunny at least for the first half of the day. River low and clear. A trickle of March Browns hatching through the middle of the day. Five trout to 15", all returned. Two on nymph and three on dry Jingler. Still can't find the fishing book at the gate referred to in the instructions.
WUF Note: The Fishing book has been removed, and we are going to update the beat details accordingly - Thanks
