Fished pontsarn up, casting tricky but the bow and arrow cast of a small gold head yielded two small fish. Fish ultra spooky in very clear water.

Lovely stretch of river with some good swims that have been cleared, it was raining and the water was high. I fished for about 5 hrs, I used feeder tactics with sweetcorn and pellets and with the objective of catching my first ever barbel, had a few chub and 2 that were a really good size and then in the late afternoon the rod went zing! and low and behold my first barbel! Amazing, not sure on weight but it was 60cm so a good size! Thank you!

Tenkara Day, accompanied by Roger Smith, this return is for me only, the other anglers will submit their own returns. Started fishing in light rain about 12.00pm, finished at 4pm in full rain. River remained clear and was not high.
Grayling were in superb condition and both were good sized - filled my scoop net, weighed approx 1.5lbs. Both took a size 12 barbless partridge and orange.

The river was fining down and a little too deep for wading so we were confined to 4 or 5 pegs all of which looked interesting with variations in current, creases and eddies. Most people will prefer the top swim, although we caught fish on all the pegs. We fished with an in line method feeder and medium sized drilled halibut pellets on a hair rig. It was a memorable day with constant action with near perfect conditions. My only word of warning to roving anglers is that only one bank of this beat is fishable and this is just a long field, approx 1/4 mile long, so a more appropriate description should be single bank fishing of approx 1/4 mile!

Third and final day of a long awaited fishing trip. Third day of chilly, cloudy skies, rain and a scarcity of fly life and surface action. Hey ho!
I love Dinas, easy to find, your car needs a bit of clearance to park near the river. Plenty of variety and I know it holds a very good head of trout.
Not a massive nymphing fan, but needs must. Caught and returned 3 hard fighting wbt to about 12". Then approaching the end of a short but enjoyable session it happened. Hooked into a fish that just dug its fins in and sat in the current, immovable on my 3lb leader. Then it tore off downstream, taking me down to the backing. I had to exit the river and run down the bank to recover line. I honestly thought I had hooked a salmon. After a 10 minute tussle, praying my light tippet would hold out, I netted a stunning 4lb (estimated against my other top 2 giant wbt's), 22 inch or thereabouts hen wbt.
After a quick pic I held her in the shallows to revive her. I could not believe how fresh this fish was after a such a muscular scrap. A few gulps, a few writhes then a kick of that powerful tail and off. Wonderful and her future contribution to the wbt gene pool preserved.
Still shaking as I write this, won't catch a bigger wbt this season, or indeed, for some time to come. What a river, what a fish, what a day!

Was lucky to be able to attend the Tenkara day organised by WUF. The day was very well organised, informative and above all enjoyable albeit, that it poured with rain and I did not connect with any fish. Glyn Williams was on good form capping his excellent slide presentation by catching a grayling to order whilst demonstrating casting. Thanks to Andrew for the loan of equipment.
Very good value.Thanks
