Beat:Sugwas Court

Fishing:Coarse

No. of Anglers:1

Fished in the first field near the parking, opposite the manor house on the hill. Water low and day very hot, but expectant as I intended to fish until 9 pm. Caught only 2 very small barbel under 1 lb each during mid afternoon on luncheon meat. Also tried pellet throughout the day and evening, but could not get a genuine take from anything larger. At least not a blank but very disappointing and will give Sugwas a miss next time.

Attempted to fish this beat today but unable to access start point due to dense vegetation and steep bank not allowing safe entrance to the stream. I will make a note that early season may be a better time to fish this section of the Dulas.

This little stream is rather low but fishable. Took all the 4 to 6 inch browns on dries of various types, Sedges, Humpies, I also had plenty of rises. Noticed a couple of large mayflies flying around, not sure what species they were but looked like E. Dancia.

Plenty of leisurely rises during the afternoon in the lower part of the Quarry Pool to unidentifiable flies, but no reaction to any of our offerings, whether dry fly or nymph. River in good condition, especially at the Junction Pool.

River low and clear and weather not ideal. Most of the fish were caught after 4pm to pellet. I wish I had taken waders to try and stalk some fish out of the shallow runs when the sun was high. Perfect conditioned hard fighting fish. Biggest barbel was 8lb and biggest chub was 4lb 2oz.

No fish landed, all the anglers on my bank had same problem. The general concencus was that you have a late night poacher problem. I wont be fishing llwyn onn again personally I don't think its worth it.
