Fished Sunday 27th to Tuesday 29th. Booked in advance as we have to travel 200 miles. Weather was 26/27 Degrees, clear skies, river was low, slow and clear. On arriving at the water at 5.30am Sunday morning we were greeted by a campsite of canoeist on the bank on the main shingle area. I mentioned to the one guy who poked his head out his tent that it was private land, to which he replied'I KNOW' so we assumed they had permission, so we just ignored them. They left about 9am. One of my party moved to where they had camped and found 2 rubbish sacks stuffed under a tree.
Fishing was very slow but we did manage to catch every day. Most methods tried, but the fish fell to pellets and feeders. Barbel were 7.6lbs, 7.3lbs, 7.3lbs & 2lb. The Chub were all between 2-4lbs.Will be back next year to try our luck again.
I would like to thank the Wye & Usk Foundation for doing a great job. Cheers!

Track from road to first field overgrown and rutted, not making the walk any easier, just glad we decided to leave trolleys behind.
Fished 9.30am to 6pm in the faster water by Island. 4 chub to 3lb 5oz, all to meat, either fixed or rolled.
Few canoeists, generally pleasant despite loss of control in first swim by shingle bank.
Came back across fields into gate at end of car park, rather than through the church or down the overgrown track. Is this perhaps a better route, in fine weather at least?

WUF note - The route you have chosen to take and the footpath through the Church are not marked on the map or the advice notes provided for a reason. It is essential that anglers follow the maps and instructions provided and DO NOT decide to make their own access routes in and out of fisheries. There are valid reasons why we use these negotiated routes and anglers doing as they please to make things easier for themselves results in The Fishing Passport LOOSING FISHERIES as a result. The track to negociate is less than 100m.

A very well kept beat. Lots of chub on the float and a couple of barbel on pellets. A very enjoyable day. Levels very low, needs plenty of rain. Thanks.

No fish caught or seen. River very low and mainly just a channel in the exposed bedrock. A real shame as this is obviously a beautiful stream given normal water levels.
Never mind, will definitely try again next season.

Dozen or so to hand in the couple of hours fishing. Few to size 18 CDC emerger, the rest to size 22 bead head nymph. Very low water moving at a snails pace. All were taken in the faster oxygenated water. Stealth was key where possible.

River conditions low with slight colouration. 2 chub 2lb 8oz and 3lb 10oz. Much of the stretch is heavily overgrown and there were only a handful of fishable swims along the entire length.
