Second day on this stretch. River falling with bright sunshine so not perfect conditions. We decided to try a bit of float fishing off some shingle at the end of the stretch, this was great until a salmon angler appeared in his 4x4 on the opposite bank. We were just discussing yielding to the salmon rod as we knew we should, when without even getting out of the car, he rang the ghillie and then parked up. He then took a photo of us fishing and told the ghillie we were spinning! My husband hooked a nice chub and then he told the ghillie we had just caught a salmon! After several attempts (he was too agitated to listen), we shouted across that we had caught a chub and were float fishing. "They are float fishing apparently" he said and with no further word (or apology) walked off. The ghillie (or farmer) then appeared in his car but he did not have the courtesy to speak to us either. It didn't spoil our day but it was disappointing that he was unable to tell the difference between a spinner and a float and a chub and a salmon. Very discourteous.

I hooked three small trout and failed to hook a larger fish. It was a delight and satisfactorily challenging to fish the upper section of this wild stream although the water level was low and the afternoon was very bright. A small amount of trimming would make the fishing even more delightful. There were many Autumn dun in evidence and a fly similar to Lunn's Particular attracted fish.

We were having a day being guided by Oliver Burch who was (trying) to teach us all he knows about nymphing! A great mentor and a day which we both really enjoyed. Despite Oliver's best efforts many of his 'banker' runs didn't yield any fish. We were concentrating on the nymphs all day despite a small rise later in the afternoon. The best fish was a Grayling of about 13"(this time JT getting the better of SC), the smallest 3"! Not to be outdone a 3" Minnow took a weighted nymph being retrieved by JT. A bright and mild day on a fantastic beat - we will be back!

A lovely fishing day on a beautiful beat. Even when the water is low, there is plenty of it. There were quite a lot of fish rising - trout, grayling, chub and salmon smolts. We caught some of everything, totally about 15. Largest was a 1lb grayling.

Originally booked Wyebank but due to the low water levels elected to look at then fish this beat which I fished last season. Fished the swims in the upper part of the beat. All fish taken at various distances from the bank. Fish were 11lb 5oz, 10lb 3oz, 9lb 4oz, 8lb, 8lb and 2 x 5lb. Great day and all bar 2 of the hundred of canoeists were brilliant and gave me lots of room. All fish to fell to 12mm dumbells and pellet feeders.
