Tough day on this scenic stretch. Cold night followed by bright sunshine didn't help. One bite, one Chub on meat.

Another extremely bright day following a cold night resulted in a tough days fishing. 3 barbel and 1 chub to PW while CS and SC managed only 1 chub each. Bomb and pellet or meat brought the fish. A lovely length but probably needs extra water to bring out the best in it.

The water was low and clear, so fine and far off was the tactic. There were a few flies hatching, but not enough to bring the fish up.All of the fish came to tungsten nymphs.
A lovely looking beat with plenty of fish holding water.

The river was a lot lower and clearer than expected. Had planned to fish using maggots and trotting a float through various swims in order to try catch a barbel on the float. However, didn't catch any barbel but plenty of small chub but only two of any real size. Stayed in the wood block all day, probably should have moved.

Llyn Em has been kind to me this season. Two more today - 10lbs hen and 15lbs cock on size 12 Bann shrimp. Lost a third after 5 minutes without gaining any line and perhaps 50 yards backing gone. Leader was cut on gutter wall. Would like to have at least seen this one !

No sign of any salmon but a lovely day to try. Got the trout gear out in the afternoon and managed some trout/grayling to 12" which were happy to take dry fly

River falling and clear with peaty tinge. Easy to wade across but felt/studs essential. Plenty of fly life but only a very occasional rise. Two herons. I have seen the Irfon very low in recent years and suspect that fish quality has to reflect this. Some lovely fishy spots - friendly farmer, as I left, suggested the gutters.........Fished a variety of fly combinations but nothing today. Lovely sunny day and fee worth a quiet riverside walk.
