Bright sunshine but a cold wind kept any fly life to a minimum. A few Olives coming off but not enough to interest the fish. Fished a small Tungsten bead nymph with a Spider on a dropper, all but One Trout took the nymph.
The fish not quite in full feeding mode yet with some nice looking runs producing nothing and other pools with the sun warming them containing numerous Trout which would shoot off on approach.

Bright and sunny but a cold east wind. Very little hatching: just a few LDOs and occasional March brown. One 12" brownie on KMC olive. Otherwise tough going.

Only my 2nd time Salmon fishing. Booked Mick the gillie, he showed me all the best places to fish and where to cast, unfortunately there were not many fish in the river and I blanked. But had a great day as this fishery is in stunning surroundings. I would recommend booking Mick as his knowledge of this fishery is outstanding plus he is a great guy with plenty of interesting stories.
I will be back and hopefully catch a Salmon.

Weather and river conditions same as for other reports today, cool upstream breeze but plenty of sheltered spots, but only a tiny intermittent trickle of BWO's all day. Only trout I saw were the 2 10" brownies tempted from out of the depths on a small weighted PTN. Clumsily stumbled over a boulder when deep wading so had 2 bootfuls of what is still v. cold water... I don't think it is very often that I wish for nicer weather to warm the rivers rather than rain to top them up.

Also noted some anglers using Power Bait. Thought it was illegal to use this on this water?? Also evidence of campfires still being lit which is also not allowed.
It seems as if some people think they can do as they like on this water and spoil it for the rest of us. It's a shame that such a great place is being spoilt by the actions of a few. Litter is also an ongoing issue.Personally, I had a good day. Come on Welsh Water, sort this place out.

A beautiful day. Lucky enough to be in the right place for a large hatch of March Browns ( I assume). They came on at midday and lasted for 50 mins then stopped. Missed a number at the rise, lost two and brought a couple of good 15/16" fish to the net, safely returned. A heart stopping hour of fishing. I was delighted to experience for the first time what the Usk is famous for.

The day was blighted by a strong upstream wind that seemed constantly in our faces! Casting and mending were near impossible with tangles aplenty. We each caught a good 1.5 lb grayling, both of which were returned.
There wasn't a hatch of fly, just a dribble throughout the day, with only a few fish rising. None of these were trout, all either grayling or salmon smolts.
I still have not knowingly seen a trout on the Wye this season. It can't be just me. I wonder if it is still a bit cold. The water, although a little warmer now was still chilly.
