Accompanying 2 participants to provide advice on a Wild Streams Day event, I found the Hindwell to be running clear and in good condition. Access to beat was fairly reasonable with the late spring and the sunny conditions saw a hatch of mayflies around lunchtime, although we saw no rises all day. We all caught fish - 6 to one event participant and 2 for the other with the largest around 9". I caught 1 fish with only a few casts made using a weighted nymph. This is a truly wild stream beat in beautiful surroundings.

Part of the Wild Streams Day organised by the Lugg and Arrow Foundation.
River a little coloured but pretty good conditions. No real surface action till two nice fish spotted rising under the far bank. So managed to get both on a Grey Wulfe. Others on a submerged nymph.Difficult day with too bright sunshine.
Enjoyed the gathering and felt the day did a lot to encourage beginners.

Nil. Bit of a freak heatwave - 22 degrees - in Brecon for the 3 hours I had spare to fish the beat on Saturday. The fish must have gone to the beach for the day :). Wish I had!

Started off with czech nymphing faster water in front of caravan park, then moved upstream to deeper water. Saw several smaller fish rise and take emerges just under the surface but could not (despite my extensive fly collection) find the right drift / pattern they were feeding on. Weather cloudy at first, then sunny with a light wind downstream, temperature mild.
Think it a nice beat but clearly need some guidance on how to catch these fish, especially patterns and method).
All in all a good day out, however disappointing that I did not land any fish :-(
Francois.
