Had 3 fish nothing over a pound about midday on an olive goldhead, weighted with 2 small split shots, not much activity on the surface, first time fishing this beat and struggled a bit, not used to such a big river, on way back down the river for home I came across a group of men fishing a ledger with maggot and spinning, no bailiff around.
WUF Note: Please report any suspected illegal fishing to the Natural Resources Wales emergency line as soon as possible - 0800 80 70 60.

Taught to take a walk of the full beat before setting up. At top of beat decided to set up and discovered my 4 piece rod was now 3. Several retrace of riverbank-fruitless! If anyone finds a rod-tip from a Sage 8'6" 3 1/2 oz copper coloured rod?
Upset, not deterred, I set up my 3 piece 'stick' with a team of PTN's, and in the tail end of several pools took 3 nice (average 1lb) trout. Raised a few more but setting the hook was problematic! Weather dry/warm with low water and little emerging with even fewer rises I'll be back! Sportsfish shop tomorrow for new rod.

Very overgrown, poor access, numerous rises but missed all.
Good head of fish present. However online booking very easy and a big improvement on old voucher system.

Great couple of hours on this delightful little stream. Lots of trout about. Caught 3 TTs (tiny tiddlers) and one of about 8 inches all on a black emerger type thing (like a klink/hawthorn/Parachute hybrid).

A great day on a lovely beat, countless misses and a few lost on barbless. Eight to hand, nothing over 10 inches but all good fun on light gear. All taken off the top with Blonde Wulf between 13.00 and 18.30 during constant hatches of everything. Marvellous!

I spent a quiet evening exploring the top end of the Cannop Brook close to the weir. Fish were rising to mayflies. Three trout to hand largest at 9 inches, one on kites imperial, two on Hares Ear Nymph. Joined by a tree creeper and a fallow deer in the dusk. Will return.
