Yet another day on this fantastic bit of water, I like it so much I decided to take the wife! We both had a great day. The weather was fantastic, maybe a bit too hot for good fishing but after all the recent rain we didn't complain. The fishing was a bit difficult on this visit, I only managed to land 6 fish all around the ten inch mark and one a good 14in. Lost about 4, one felt like a good un! The wife blanked, but she said she enjoyed herself. Not a lot of surface activity with only the odd fish showing. No noticable fly hatch. All fish taken on beaded nymph fished NZ style.

Despite bright sunshine and a clear river, we all had a very enjoyable day. William, aged 15 years caught his first barbel 7lbs 3oz on only his second cast of the day and then one 7lbs 10ozs shortly afterwards.

Total catch for the day was 5 barbel and 4 chub to 4lbs 8oz.
The only disappointment was the amount of litter and discarded line left in one or two swims which we duly collected.

To whom it may concern next time take your own litter home, we don't want to risk losing the fishing on this beautiful stretch of the Wye.

A trout, slightly larger than my spinner.

A beautiful stretch of river and, for my money, your best fly water, but untroubled by the presence of Salmon.

No fish seen or caught. Some fly life. Had to finish at 6.00pm so could not fish the evening. Water low but still some good fishable stretches.

Another top days barbel fishing! 11 fish, 4 doubles biggest to 11 3/4. Only angler on the water. Try unused swims, you will need to cut your way through bankside vegetation but well worth it!!!!
