Enjoyable, sunny day in the deeper water at the top end. No action for the first few hours. Then an enforced siesta, due to the unrelenting canoe traffic between 11am and 3-30pm. However, a quieter evening produced 3 nice barbel to 7.5lb between 5pm and 7pm. All action on pellets.

6 trout all on legered worm with 2 feet from weight to hook. Poly ball on hook to keep worm off bottom. Fished just by the house. Casting out about 50 yards. Rocky bottom snapped a few fish on the way in.

Water very low with constant weed coming down during the day. No fish landed but did get broken by a monster late in the day. Wonderful scenery and environment, in the words of Arnie, "we will be back".

Fished unsuccessfully for Salmon in the hope that fish would be running but no such luck. We did see four or five salmon rising in the first half of the day but these may have been resident fish. Ideally needs another 6-8 inches on the river before the fish return.
Nontheless a beautiful beat and the owner of the water came to visit us and was especially kind and courteous, going so far as to lend me some spare waders as mine were full of holes! Cannot thank him and the Wye & Usk Foundation enough.

Fished the previous day at Chainbridge in vain for salmon so fished for trout instead. The beat here is particularly beautiful with abundant wildlife which makes a wonderful place to get away from it all. The trout were particularly wily here but eventually took three small wild browns using a daddy long legs fished on the surface. The trout here are particularly abundant but with the river in spate some of the deeper lies would hold good salmon too. All in all a wonderful days fishing and will certainly be back!

This water normally produces good barbel catches but to have a blank barbel return is unusual. Tried several methods and baits to no avail. Thank goodness for chubbies.

No fish caught had a salmon swirl to the fly in the Vanstone pool, several fish showing there, mostly coloured. A Good days
fishing. Top end of beat could do with strimming access points to pools as its heavily overgrown.

Where did the water go? Where did the fish go? Fished from dawn to 10am and then from 2.30pm - 5.30pm. Tried 5 spots, worm on bottom, float, spinner all to no avail. Saw one fish jump. Windy and cold weather. Spoke to a fellow angler fly fishing who said that others on the ticket office side were catching on the bottom. First blank in 4 visits here.

A very hard day with the river woefully low. Both of us blanked despite trying just about everything.
Fantastic stretch and our thanks to Terry for the very warm welcome, tea, and lift down to the river.
We will definitely return when we have had some rain.
