Very mixed weather of warm sunshine and wintery showers. One good WBT of around 10 inches on a weighted Pheasant Tail nymph. Missed a couple of his relatives that chose a size 16 Grey Duster during an all too brief period of sunshine. Reflexes still too rusty after the long winter lay off! This beat will be a cracker in May.

12 trout between the 2 rods, biggest just under 1.5lbs. A heavy grannom hatch on the Usk today (but hardly any olives) with plenty of fish rising. A couple on PT nymph and klinkhammer but most fell to a Dave Collins grannom emerger.
A really nice beat with access about as easy as it gets. The salmon pools look great and will be well worth a go when levels are higher.

1 Brown Trout approx 2/3 lb - returned. Caught on a dry Gold Ribbed Hares Ear. Lovely beat, will definitely fish again, but could be improved by clearer access to river.

Lovely beat, I fished it from end to end from both banks where possible. The river is very low, water 10`C and very clear -even a Hover/Intermediate was too much with lightweight flies snagging constantly on many pools, so I think badly in need of water. No sign of salmon over two days, interesting wildlife, a huge hatch which the chub loved, and a Kingfisher by the corner tree pool. The only disturbing of the tranquility were the canoes. Showers starting as I left at lunchtime. Many thanks to WUF-highly efficient.

Water very low and clear. Fish rising at rock so fished dry and landed 4 to 1lb. Lost one in excess of 1 and half pounds (broke on 2.2lb). Massive hatch of grannom and a few dark olives. No salmon showing at all to date. John fished at the top run hooking 2 to 1lb. I fished until 5 with no further fish. All returned.

Annual April trip this time with 15 yr old daughter who is very keen on this fine sport. River very low. Sunny morning yielded 6 brown trout all to dry fly (Adams 14 and 16). First fish, a fine 12" specimen, taken on about 7th cast of the morning directly in front of the lodge. Lost two others from same pool. 5 others 6-10" later on in the space of 20 mins during a brief hatch LWO/March Browns, right place right time! Afternoon very quiet so switched to PTN and had one trout 8" and one excellent fighting grayling 12".
Daughter tucked in on wet March Brown with two beatifully marked trout to 8", proud Dad and thrilled daughter. Happy Days. Will return with my mates in two weeks. Thankyou WUF for a slick booking service, information and advice. We camped at Trericket Mill for two nights and climbed Pen-y-Fan on Tuesday before returning home tired but very happy.
