Out Pike fishing for the day and had 1 of around 9lb on a deadbait. During afternoon decided to use lure and hooked and landed a 10lb fresh Salmon. Released in the water, and swam off strongly. Saw another salmon jump at tail of one pool later in the afternoon.

The second of two days on this beat and I stayed in the lower section until the late afternoon, spent the morning trotting the big pool for regular trout up to 1lb and chub to 4lb +. Really enjoyed this, roved about looking for barbel without success in late afternoon. Tried most areas near and far with a feeder, only found chub. Water temp at 9.3 c. Finally finished with barbel of 6lbish. Bankside steps were a great help where installed.

An early morning start to the season at what looked to be a good water level. 1 x well-mended kelt, 31 inches, on a Bann Shrimp fished off an intermediate tip.

5 barbel all between 5 & 7lbs caught on feeder fished pellet from the next swim down from the power cabels. Lots of snags in this swim, did explore down stream in the meadow, found it to be faster & shallower and could not locate any fish here.

Arrived to find the river running clear with water temperature at 7 degrees. Slow start fish, coming on around dinner time, had two barbel in quick succession weighing 9lb 14oz and just under 7lb. All quiet until dusk - two more fish around 9lb and one missed. Nice stretch of water and had a nice chat with Don. Thanks all at the WUF.

I was fishing for Pike and did not have any action. No runs at all. I enjoyed the day and look forward to having another day at Courtfield next season. The conditions were very bright which did not help. Locating Pike in March is often rather hit or miss.

Spent 5 hrs on this lovely stretch of water but drew a blank when it came to fish. Have to admit it was my first outing on a river as I usually fish still waters so had a lot stacked against me but still enjoyed the outing. The river looked ideal to me as regards level and colour but not a sign of interest in my flies - was fishing duo style. Never saw or heard a fish but i'm sure they're in there some where!

Another excellent days fishing on Courtfield, slow start but picked up towards the end. 6 barbel in total biggest 10lbs 2oz fantastic fish! One chub about 3lbs and a pike around 5lbs on a spinner. This was the second trip within a week or so first trip on the cold side but, managed two great chub over 5lbs and a pike over 6lbs for a mornings fishing.

Water at 9c looked promising, water level not high on this the first of two days. Tried several swims including the jungle woodland at the top, this will be impossible to access with some growth. There really are only a handful of swims for an angler wanting to sit comfortably in the top section but a very nice beat that I will fish again. Very quiet and private. A trickle of chub before I found some barbel and caught three up to 7 lbs before packing up. Parking is right by the river so a good spot for those less able and several swims with steps that were okay. Faces West so nice sunset.

Ended up with just the one chub of about 3 lbs after losing a couple of barbel in quick succession - checking the hook I discovered the point was damaged.
