10 WBT 8 x 6"- 8". 1 x 12", 1 x 13". All on adams para. Excellent beat!

Just for the Rectory records (This fish in June):
I finally managed to break my duck at the Rectory with a good solid take in the Rock pool-- followed by instant stripping of line to the backing--
then a display of cartwheels,tail walking and slicing the water. After recovering line, more antics and then finally a hen fish of about 12lbs hooked firmly in the mouth with a Stoats tail.
A pleasure to see her swim away.
Height 1'9", colour and rising-- time 12.00 am.
Usk Grub, sink tip.

Single Brown Trout caught - 35cm long & just under a pound in weight ( 15 1/2 oz). Caught in bay at south end (SO 089177) on damsel nymph.
Sadly the fish had quite a few lice on it, although its general condition otherwise seemed good.
I'd tried dry fly from bridge pillars up to the bay with no luck. Very few fish seen rising - almost all before 0900, and around the bridge pillar area.

When I arrived at 10.45 am the river was very muddy after the recent rain.
Started with a Dry Fly on the tip and Nymph on the dropper not a bite, after 2.00 pm changed to two brightly coloured Nymph's and had a 6 inch Brown, which was returned and that was the only bite all day.
There were no fish rising at all, the river is running quite fast, and is currently about 12-18 inched higher than it was in late May

River up perhaps 1 foot but clear. Fished middle croy 10am to mid-day, 1 9lb plus barbel and 2 around 7/8lb on large halibut pellet.
Fished pool behind submerged bottom croy until 16.00hrs and caught 4 more barbel all over 7lbs and lost large one that went downstream to end of spool line when hook snapped at bend, (a size 8 carp hook by reputable manufacturer) All on large halibut pellet with loose fed small pellets.
An 11lb plus barbel was taken by a W&U angler from this swim on Wednesday.
Salmon seen frequently surfacing between croys, tried heavy flying c with no result.
For those who have fished here recently and been entertained by the loneley duckling, its still alone but alive and growing fast.

Fished early 6am to 2pm. Intermittent rising but 6 wbt, 4 on gold head ptn and 2 on a gaudy yellow klink - between 4" to 10". 1 solid grayling 14" on ptn. Otter seen above weir - dont know who was more surprised.

I caught a 10lb salmon from the Rock Pool at the upper limits of the chainbridge beat using a 20g toby. The river had a fair bit of colour to it but by the afternoon it had faded out enough for me to land the fine 10lb salmon.

Lovely day, breezy at times with rain arriving as predicted late afternoon. Pleasantly surprised at water levels but flow rates down at bottom of the beat. Both rods fished dry flies all day as we were greeted by rising fish on arrival. Total of 22 fish taken, 14 wbt and 8 grayling. Mainly in 6-9" range but 2@10" and 1@14". As day progressed significant numbers of mayfly and olives around, rises continued but takes diminished, possibly small grayling? Great day.

My second attempt to fish this lovely little brook - first time couldn't work out how to get above the weir - thanks Adam. First half of beat a handful of 4"-6" wbt, but above three between 8" and 10" and one grayling. Sporadic mixed hatches throughout the day and caught all on light cahill and olives. Despite the roar of the passing traffic this is a great beat, with kingfishers, buzzards and some nice spots just to sit and muse. Thanks.

Total of 3 trout caught (all returned). I had an 8oz 11 inch trout on a march brown. My colleague NH had two, somewhat smaller trout, of which he will post seperate details.

Addequate, mainly small fly. Few rises and most of them small fry of some sort. Very pleasant fishing thank you.
