Beat:How Caple Court

Fishing:Coarse

No. of Anglers:1

Again three anglers fished this beat, but the heavy overnight rain and cooler air temperature seemed to put the fish off from feeding.

No fish. No bites. We are sure a discharge from a farm didn’t help the days fishing. Reported and did get a refund from the fishery manager which much appreciated.

Great days long trotting on a very accessible beat, three Chub over 4lb, and two nice dace caught on sweet corn, only downsides were being dogged by an Otter for much of the day and a very dangerous access on to the road

1 barbel just over 7lb on halibut pellet. Access to the fishery is via a narrow road leading to a narrower track. The final decent down a very steep hill through a field to the riverbank would be very difficult in anything other than a 4wd vehicle. Driving out again after any rain would be impossible in anything but 4wd. Banks are steep here too but it is a nice stretch of the river. The walk back up the hill carrying gear is a tightner.

First time on the Wye, had a good day!! 7lb 12oz Barbel, first cast. Steady action all day. Biggest Barbel 8lb 12oz . Boillies and pellet feeder for the Barbel. Chub on meat. Decided not to brave the track. Realistically unless you have a 4x4 or the ground is bone dry you’d struggle. It’s a long walk back though !!
