This fishery comprises of around 2½ miles of double bank salmon fishing a couple of miles upstream of Monmouth. Flowing through a picturesque gorge, it has vehicle access along the entire length of the left bank via an old railway line.

It is of mixed wading difficulty, with some great fly and spinning water and including the famous Martins Pool, an historic mid/lower Wye salmon catch. The beat has more than 20 salmon lies and pools in total. Note : The owner reserves the right to fish the beat although this should not affect your fishing.

There is a private syndicate of coarse rods (up to 40 anglers) that fish the beat so exclusivity during the coarse season is not guaranteed. Syndicate members are aware that Salmon day ticket anglers may also be on the beat. In such cases, the coarse anglers have been asked to temporarily give way to the salmon rod.

Please be aware that during school holidays, bank holidays and summer weekends especially, this fishery is in a busy part of the Wye and the number of other river users will be at its maximum. It is worth concentrating your fishing early morning and evening during these periods. Please contact us on 01874 712 074 before booking should you have any queries about this.

Block Booking is available on this beat. You can book all the tickets available (sometimes at a discounted price). You can only fish up to the maximum daily number of people allowed for that type of fishing.
