The Ashford House beat extends for about a mile - right bank only, below Talybont Bridge. This lovely stretch of the Usk is also of some historical interest as John Henderson who invented many Usk patterns, moved to Ashford House in the 1930s and owned the fishery for many years.

Whilst there are some pools with salmon lies (including the Chain Pool and Blue Pool), it is better known as a wild trout fishery. The beat enjoys good hatches of fly typical of the Usk and offers a good variety of pools, runs and riffles. As such, the beat lends itself to fishing by a variety of methods and trout exceeding two pounds can be caught here.

The banks are quite overgrown (and steep) in places so access to the river can be difficult, especially in the height of summer. Access is easiest at the top and bottom section of the fishery. Parking is around 200m from the river.

Half price evening tickets can be purchased from 1st May and after 1pm on the day of fishing. Fishing is allowed from 5pm.
