This was our first visit to Foy Bridge and although the river was running low we had an excellent day at a lovely spot. We started around 9am and fished the 2 swims at the end of the left hand bank. 1 of us trotted pellets and caught 8 chub of varying size and the other feeder with meat, catching 4 small barbel and 6 chub. About mid morning my friend hooked into a good fish which after a long fight snapped his rod and eventually his line (10lb).
As the day went on we moved up towards the bridge and the action quietened down. I moved to the right hand bank and the fish came back as the evening arrived, bringing 2 barbel (7lb 4oz and 7lb) along with a couple of chub around 4/5lb.
Would certainly look to return.

So plenty of rain the day before had freshened up the river and the runs I had fished two days earlier were moving faster. Fished entirely the wrong part of the day - mid morning until 4pm as I was tired in the morning after fishing Doldowlod the day before and had to travel home. The grayling were on the euro set up and lost 3 more but the amount of interest was low compared to two days earlier. Didn’t really fancy the tricky wading of the run at the top of the beat so had a go at prospecting with a sculpin pattern on the remainder of the deeper sections lower down. Pretty sure I had a couple of plucks but no hook ups. Fish were rising throughout the day and several decent sized trout cleared the water leaping, all of course in the most ridiculously inaccessible areas

The other were eels, very difficult day in low river conditions.

River low. Could not get action on pellets over several hours. Switched to meat and things improved greatly.
Chub all of a good standard but barbel refused to show.
That aside. A very good fishery and very peaceful.
Thank you.

River very low in places and limited bank access. would benefit from another 1 or 2 pegs to make it easier to get access to water. Agree with other comments to travel light as walk from car park is steep and could be slippery in wet weather. Barbel and chub showing in late afternoon/early evening. Double figure barbel and 2 pound chub. Both on pellet.

Yes, the wading is pretty tricky - though with a staff at the current low water level not too bad.

I fished just below the fishing hut - turning the car here is tricky. Then underneath the suspension bridge and the planks below. Then towards the bottom of this beat after driving along the old railway track. Again turning the car around is very tricky.

Rose a couple of splashy efforts - I suspect salmon parr. Saw a couple of good "trouty`" rises near the fishing hut.

Although no fish caught I saw two kingfishers, one below the suspension bridge and one at the fishing hut.

Better access this time around. Good fishing and a nice trout on a hairs war
