Lovely day fishing but unfortunately no catch.

A lovely spring day, bright sunshsine and a steady downstream wind. Grannom hatching in flurries from when I arrived at 11am until 1.30pm. A brief flurry of MB's around 1.45. Had to leave at 2pm. First fish was a cracking 2lber, 5 others were over the pound and 2 were about 10oz. Dropped/lost 4 others including one that was around 3lb. This is what spring Usk trout fishing is all about.

The rising fish were localised. One pool tail and the cheeks of a couple of fast runs. Rest of beat was quiet. 5 on a klinkhammer grannom emerger #14 and 3 on a #12 March Brown pattern tied with the fur from my terrier and now named after him....the doozer. It rose every fish it was presented to and now has a row all to it own in my fly box!

It was a sunny, warm day for early April. The river was running fairly low and very clear. The length of the beat was pretty quiet. I managed to land two very small WBT on PTN.

Cold east wind with bright sunlight fly fished all day no offers nice day out except for the lack of action.

No Salmon seen, viewed a couple of small brown trout and some nice size chub.
