Very sad day for my son. River was too high to fish, with only two accessible pegs. Water too fast and visibility zero. Lots of debris catching on the line and feeder.
Used lots of tried and trusted methods that he'd used on other rivers, but not a bite here on the Wye.
I feel sorry for my son, as he's been waiting ages to fish the Wye. Had I known the river would have be like this, I wouldn't have booked the day for him.

Was planning to fish Llandewi but was higher and more coloured than i expected after the recent rains. Headed upstream to Oakfield Which had a strong flow but a little less colour.

2 Trout around 6 inches on nymph and plenty of tugs from Salmon/Trout parr. Heavy showers and strong wind while I was there so levels will be high for a while yet.

River running very fast and coloured, must have come up a good 3-4 ft since last trip and just couldn't hold bottom in the pool with feeder or lead. One Barbel which was very welcome. Put it down to another learning experience on the wonderful Wye.

Directions are good but be aware that there are 2 orchards... hence me driving around the wrong one 3 times looking for a river (it's the second one down, NOT the one with the two gates side by side). Agree with previous comments that there are limited pegs unless you're Bear Grills and don't mind being eaten alive by mosquitoes or like being shocked by an electrified cattle fence. Caught consistently through the day on pellets "other" were perch and dace.
