Pleasant evening exploring lower section of beat. Nothing to nymphs, but occasional rises so reverted to an Adams and rose two, hooked them and lost them. The fallen trees are challenging.

Arrived at 5pm for an evening session. Slightly overcast and breezy but warm. Fished the upper end of the beat alternating between feeder with pellet and touch ledgering with meat. Eels and chub on the meat but no sign of barbel. Moved swim for last hour and had a take on the first cast from a barbel 8-9lb followed by a good chub.
Still lots of weed drifting downriver.

Less windy, warmer with some surface activity. Fish caught on dry fly.

First time fishing on the Wye, unfortunately didn’t catch a Barbel but managed to get 3 reasonably sized Chub 3-5lbs which saved the blank. Used ground bait and 4mm pellets in feeder with luncheon/pepperami on the hair. Lovely surroundings and very quiet. Look forward to returning.

Lots of fish showing and lots of interest from small stuff but no Chub or Barbel this visit.

Another nice peaceful day on the Wye, with stunning scenery. Fishing was slow through the day but picked up during the evening . Will return to this beat again ...

River looking good and a bit less weed coming down today. Mostly cloudy, so I started in a spirit of optimism. Small chub from the off, whatever the bait and twice as many must have fallen off as I landed. Once again no sign of the barbel. I think I may revert to my former habit of not trying to catch them in the first couple of weeks of the season. But then it's good to be on the Wye even if the fish are elusive.
