Fished from 5am to 12 river clear. Fished the cockpit spinning early on shortly after I fished it through another angler had a 37lb hen fish. Stopped at 12 as it got too bright and much too hot for me and the fish

Well bowled up at about half ten , gorgeous day , plenty of insect life walking up to the top of the beat . Been a while since I've done this one , and was nice to tackle up initially with my tiny tungsten nymphs , see how things go !!!!!

As I worked the first small pools , a few rises started to appear , so ringed the changes , and opted for duo , a rusty Klinkhammer as my dry and a small tungsten PTN as my dink !! One cracking rise kept appearing close to a large willow , well under the shade , so cast as close as I dare to the tree branches , and he hammered the dry as soon as it settled on the water , and a great run around on the two weight rod as well . . . . Gorgeous Arrow brownie , quickly admired then released , must have been thirteen inches , and tubby too !

Again , wading slowly upstream , I targeted another splashy rise , and positioned myself , to alight the dry as covertly as I could . Another good take on the klinkhammer , and another beautifully marked brownie .

Rises seemed to Slow down about midday , as it was touching 22 degrees , and switched to two size eighteen nymphs , prospecting likely trouty places . . . . . Two more followed , both about five or six inches , but still fun to catch on my old six foot two weight . . . . . .

The last fish was not far from the bridge , the top end of the beat , and I was being angrily watched by a lone swan , that didn't seemed at all impressed that I was on his turf !!!!!!!

Was a really fun four hours , the river is absolutely alive at the moment , and running at the perfect height . I'm sure the nettles will be even heighter in a month , but I did try and swathe down a section of the walk way to try and make things easier for others . Some Himalayan balsam starting to show in the usual areas , dam stuff !!!!

Well hopefully in two or three weeks the mayfly madness will start , and this beat is a cracker , looking forward to it , happy days . . . . . . . .

No fish caught or seen, but spent a very pleasant day with Mick, who gave shared some of his great knowledge of lies etc. which should greatly improve my chances of success on future visits to Goodrich Court.

What a change... 24 degrees, not a cloud in the sky. The water levels have dropped and the water was crystal clear. Great conditions for fishing. The only slight issue was that there weren't any salmon to be seen, let alone caught! The beat is in great condition and I will return again this year.
A great day, in beautiful surroundings. This year I accept that salmon will be rare at best.

A few fish rising through the afternoon and into the evening to sparse hatches of march browns, LDO's, sedges and smaller flies. Hooked four decent sized fish on a variety of dries. The first broke my line running between rocks and the next two shook the hook close to the net. It was 20.30 before I set the hook properly.

Conditions were perfect when I arrived at this lovely stretch of water. I started fishing around 11:00 and spent about two hours fishing a stretch of around 30m at the very bottom end of the beat. There was much activity with fish rising regularly to a sustained and significant hatch. During this period I managed to connect with more than a dozen fish but sadly only landed 7, all WBT. Two of these were significant fish between 15" to 18" long, the rest being 12" or less. All were caught on Adams fly. Activity on the river died at around 14:00 so I took the opportunity to sit quietly by the river with a mug of coffee and took in the lovely surroundings before going home. A good day.

After late start only fished few hours through middle of day. Very hot and despite lots of flies no rising fish seen. Only one small brown on fly. Lots of obstructions in river. Will try again.
