First time on this beat. Good variation of swims. Bit busy on the other bank but it was the weekend. Dry track to river, wouldn't do it in in the wet without a 4 x 4. We had a couple of barbel and a few chub in the afternoon then decided to switch into a different swim for the evening and that got us another 9 barbel.

Cracking day, good access to beat with a lot of work already carried out on cutting out swims, well done to those.
Arrived early with cool and over cast conditions and river nice and pacey, settled in one of the swims in the first field, good place as any, caught a chub first cast followed in quick succession with two 8lb+ Barbel, fishing slowed after that and with the sun coming through, a swim change was in order with a few more after that, didn't get another fish until midday a fine Chub just before calling it a day. Bait was 14mm & 6mm Pellet and groundbait feeder. Well done WUF on continued the hard work, i'll be back for another session quite soon.

Used meat as bait. The morning was more active than the evening.
A lovely spot but very steep access which was slippery in the early dew. I would not to fish there in wet conditions, just too dangerous! Could handrail/ ropes be installed or am I just getting old?
The 'other' fish were all eels. Can anyone recommend a good way to unhook them?

Fishing:Trout (River)

Ideal conditions, cool, and slight colour. The water had evidently fallen back from a real torrent recently and a lot of silt.
All this is just an excuse for not landing anything though a few small fish about & rising.

Area:Monnow

Beat:The Olchon

Fishing:Trout (River)

No. of Anglers:1

Low water in the Olchon but clear. Conditions good & weather cool. Landed a lovely fish in the first pool up from the Monnow, then up into the barbed wire entanglements some unfriendly soul has put up on the lower brook.
Once through these it is much easier & great fishing which produced another good fish and several takes.
The brook is completely over hung with trees which make casting challenging and is hard work up.
