3 x trout 6-11 inches, Parachute Adams. Oh dear! I have to report another beat which badly needs some trimming and access work, just after penning a piece for the newsletter about the wonderful fishing in the Golden Valley. There are a few gaps at the top where I did my best, but the lower end is thoroughly overgrown. What I can't understand is that, according to information I have been given, this was last done in January 2015 and yet it is supposed to be an adopted beat? What happened to the maintenance last winter?

3 Trout

We had a rove around in the afternoon and had one barbel and two chub on bomb and pellet then settled into a swim for the evening.
The barbel didn't come on until 8.15pm, chub very active before that.
Best fish of the day was 9.10

7 Barbel, 10 Chub

1 barbel 4lbs 60z 2 chub biggest 5lbs all fish caught on meat

1 Barbel, 2 Chub

4 barbel between 7 & 8lb
2 chub biggest 3 1/2lb
1 eel
2 barbel, 1 chub and eel caught on salami.
2 barbel and 1 chub caught on 14mm pellet.
All caught on feeder, filled with hemp and pellet.

Late afternoon into evening ~not ideal times buthe the beat to myself.
Slow burner but rewarded with some great barbel and a chub. Stunning venue.

River 61cm at Ross on Wye and (what appears to be) algal bloom and so not ideal but fishable on the fly. A few salmon put on acrobatic show but didn't appear to have any interest in taking a fly (mine at least) despite best efforts and knowledge of Mick. Started early (06:30) to get a few hours fishing before canoes started passing. Perhaps another day. . .

Relatively cold wind blowing quite strongly. Small trout rising intermittently throughout the morning on the lower beat flats
Moved a couple of bigger fish on the upper beat to a PT nymph fished deep in the afternoon

2 Trout

Fished from mid afternoon to 9pm in the wood area. Had 7 Barbel to 9.4Ib and 2 Chub.
All caught on pellet.
