Sunny and warm with the River ultra clear and about 14” on the Llanstephan gauge. All grayling in the 8-10” range as were the trout except for one at about 15”. Team of three flies; beadhead red tag on the point, black and olive spiders on the droppers. A few olives around but fish as reluctant to rise as seems to me to be the norm on this stretch of the Wye.

First time on this beat. Enjoyable and technically demanding fishing with deep runs who’s depth I only realised after fishing them through. I’ll be much more prepared in the future.
Admin - a couple of hundred yards from the start of the beat there is a shoot made of corrugated iron used to dump large amounts of horse manure into the river.

nice stretch sadly no ???????? but worth the 2 1/2 hrs i had on the river

6 fish lost, very windy day - coulld have, should have done better given the opportunities I squandered

River at summer low, cool day, fished upstream nymphs as no rise seen, caught a few trout, very pleasant day

Bit windy and bright today. Caught first trout at 7.35 within minutes of arriving. Fishing worm on pop up. 2nd trout at 10 fishing worm on bubble float only 12 inch leader... and let it drift with wind towards the bank. Less than 6 foot from bank.
