The river was surprisingly low and clear, but the weather thankfully a bit cooler. Nothing much seen rising and not much fly life but did see a few Mayfly. Around a dozen Trout mainly to small nymph on Tenkara rod. Best Trout about 12 inches most nearer 6. Huge amounts of small Trout and parr attacking the nymph in every pool and run.

Barbel of 10lb 4oz and 6lb and a chub of 4lb. River at 1.05m (Lydbrook gauge) and falling. Air temp 21C, mostly light cloud with some bright sunshine.
Fished the Meadow from 5am and had the 6lb barbel at 6:30am. Nothing besides small knocks on the feeder and quick chub bites until I caught the chub and the larger barbel on consecutive casts to the same spot around 5pm.
Lots of swims with issues accessing the water at present due to the steep banks, conditions were dry today but would have been treacherous if wet.
Loads of canoes but none of them came near my line.

First time on this beat. Good variation of swims. Bit busy on the other bank but it was the weekend. Dry track to river, wouldn't do it in in the wet without a 4 x 4. We had a couple of barbel and a few chub in the afternoon then decided to switch into a different swim for the evening and that got us another 9 barbel.
