A funny sort of day , fished the Honddu , club water , and had one cracker of a brownie on a Mohican mayfly , but wanted to give another piece of water a bash , the weather was pretty decent , and on the Honddu , quite a bit of insect life , and still a good few mayflies about . . . . About fifteen degrees , overcast , bit of a breeze spot on morning . . . . .

I opted for the little Dulas Brook , as should be running just about fishable . . . Parked up at the recreation car park , by the playing field , and gave it a look , things looked good , running at a nice height , slightly coloured perfect !!!!!

Fished Mohican mayfly , Parachute Greenwells and Adams the time I was there , was really good fun , and a good few fish in the Brook to I'd say . . . Had several didn't stay on the large barbless Mayfly pattern , but lovely explosive takes on it , cracking stuff. !!!!!!!

Some lovely pools , and some very very deep , don't take this little Brook for granted , and a suruptitious approach is definitely required !!!! Two to the Mohican mayfly , one on the Greenwells , and one on the Adams Parachute , also two slipped from the Adams also , a really fun few hours here , will be back soon , and plenty of insect life there too , some lovely pools , and one seem s to run into another , great stuff ,and just whatnot I like skulking under the canopy , casting while kneeling in the Brook , great fun , four little stunning brownies to the net , all between seven and nine inches , two were bigger , and slipped the net , dooooooh !!!! Always the same hey !!! Wil be back very soon , a superb three hours on this Lilliputian Brook , happy days !!!!!!!!!!

River very high. Just one smash take while fishing wet flies to report. Incidentally, both access gates need rehanging, particularly the second one with the padlock. The hinge post has gone rotten, with the result that when you open the gate, it's liable to fall flat in the roadway.

Very pleased to see the water level had dropped from 3.18m at Ross on Friday, gauge level there was about 1.8m dropping to 1.65m during the course of the day. I fished the wooded section and the lower swims, using a roving style, and travelling light. First 3 casts resulted in 3 Barbel at the bottom of the first lower field, then things dried up, so off to another swim!
The wooded section was quite treacherous, but still managed to catch - fishing the creases on two of the first swims entering the wood. The lucky stone area was far too fast, and knowing that area is snaggy, I avoided it.
All fish were caught on pellet and feeder tactics - 5oz held bottom - generally.
Thank you again to WUF for the ongoing work and access they provide.

Fishing:Salmon

River running high but clear. No salmon caught - couple of accidental trout. Saw one silver salmon moving through.
The farmer directed us to park in a cattle-proof enclosure by the river, instead of by the gate as indicated on the beat instructions. He said there had been problems with cattle/cars but the message to park in the enclosure wasn't getting through. Could WUF change instructions on beat sheet?

WUF Note : Please note that the parking and access instructions for Greenbank have been updated.
