Had an enjoyable morning on this lovely stretch which we had not fished before. Apart from the fish which was landed another three were hooked and lost in the first hour all on nymphs after which conditions seem to change perhaps due to it being a lovely hot and very sunny day? Some interest shown in dries but no firm takes. All fish were around the one pound mark.
Unfortunately we were disturbed by a middle aged couple in a canoe coming through the beat who claimed to know nothing of the canoeing restrictions which apply at this time of year.
Never the less we really liked the stretch and will be back!

No fish caught. Wading was difficult as the water level was quite high, at least for us.

My first outing on the usk in nearly thirty years, worked hard with artificial lures for the first hour or two but nothing doing eventually used the tried and tested worm that 2 rainbows could not resist at lunch time. I was however a bit disappointed with the conditions of the roads around the lake, look as if they hadnt been maintained in 30 years since my last visit! Will be returning however as the location is idyllic.

Bright and sunny evening session, fished from 6-8pm. Very few rises so fished pheasant tail nymph. Took 7 trout but lost a few more due to using barbless hooks. Largest around 8 inches the rest averaged 3-6 inches. Enjoyable evening on a very well kept beat.
