Dryfly, mayfly emerges, water low,very sunny.
An enjoyable day.

River at 8”. Fly fished during morning on Bridge Pool Gutter and Bridge Pool - best of the water I felt today. Nothing seen, no takes.

Hard going on the lower section with only two 4" trout, same river just lower down and same fly as yesterday with considerably less interest. The upper section proved to be more alive as fish were rising more frequently, and were a better size, up to 8". Parachute Adams size 14 and 16 were preferred choice. This is a really wild section where the river is in a small gorge, real cowboy country!

Weather warm and dry river shade low.
Only saw one fish caught him about 1 lb. Beat very good could do with more fish in it but a good day out.

Fished this beat for 2hrs, caught 1 trout on a dhe , missed takes and lost fish.

Weather was very warm with bright sunshine. River was at the perfect level but with a cold wind. Mayfly hatch was limited and only a few fish rising but they showed little interest in anything I could offer. One small brown trout 4" and a 6" Grayling.

Another very hot day. The river was in good condition , slightly higher than I remember . Bright sunshine all day revealed very few rises - less than 10 all day. Fly life was varied, the odd Mayfly coming off sporadically and falling back into the water although I did not see a single fish rise to the struggling fly. The only rises were splashy and seemed to be after something very small. Lots of sedges and midges and the long tailed brown fly (I don't know its name )
I persevered with the dry fly but did not catch a single fish. It was very hard fishing on a beat that has proved productive in the past.
