Late arrival, fished for a few hours from 6.30 - 9.30pm. Two fairly small brownies in the last half an hour - virtually in the dark! Both on a size 14 Grey Wulff. Such a crazily pretty succession of pools and runs - always a pleasure to visit this special spot.

beautiful day in amazing setting but difficult fishing. tried a variety of techniques and locations but not a touch all afternoon. saw some lovely fish jump and the odd fish taking daddy long legs as the skitted across the surface. weed made it difficult to get at where the fish were. i shall be back shortly!

Blustery conditions today. Most fish came to traditional wets with no particular pattern being more popular than the others on the cast.

weather forecast, showed cloudy , wrong ! very bright ,started bottom end with big lumps of spam , rolled round tail end of faster water , 3 old warrior chub ( residents haha) made it a enjoyable hour, moved back over bridge, 2nd swim , water very shallow , new approach today due to frequent canoe'rs 3oz lead in the flow half way over , chub and barbel to 3lbs .
ran the float through after wading out with corn and banded pellet ... 1 chub and 1 frantic trout ....and then the party started 2 groups of people chose the swims either side of me to ,swim, paddle splash, throw sticks for their dogs, screaming kids and I was treated to a hour+ of banging , house and garage tunes from a radio or player of some sorts .... also 2 pitbull type dogs crashed down into my swim trampling over my rod led up in the reeds, snapping the tip on my fox kevlar rod (£25 to replace) .. I do not expect this when paying £26.00 to fish !! good days fishing marred by people paying nothing to access the water ...... think will give this a miss untill the colder weather arrives ?

WUF Note: Unfortunately public access can be an issue along nearly all of the Wye, especially in summer months. This is often exacerbated during school holidays.

1 Trout, 6 Barbel, 4 Chub

Fly

Upper Bigsweir, some fish seen but lots of foam scum floating down from Redbrook.
River clear above Redbrook so must be entering in the village.

No fish showing interest.

Delighted to have finally fished this stunning river and it really is just that. Sadly I'm disappointed to have chosen to fish it on a Saturday,in height of the holiday season. Fished the early pegs at the top of the beat , pleased a 2oz feeder held perfectly and not a single one lost to a snag, fished inside line , middle and far bank . Being restricted on time ,I didn't have the option the fish the last few hours, a real shame. I will definitely be back to this beat in quieter conditions, I think you know where I'm going with that.

With on-off rain all afternoon, not the best weather for dry fly.
However, with a size 16 parachute adams I manage to raise/hook each of the three trout that were rising, but sadly did not manage to land any of them.
Lovely beat, not sure why I have not been there for so long, but accessibility becomes a problem after the second bend by the road.
