Fishing:Trout (River)

Evening outing for an hour. Began to fish at 1900. Hot, sunny and windless. River low with multiple fly hatches of olives, mayfly, sedge. Fish in pools rising freely but great caution needed to get close enough in clear water. Two 9 inch trout to hand and returned with several rises missed all to small spent mayfly imitation. Caution, at bottom end of beat in single bank section on the opposite unfenced bank, there are bullocks with one fearsome looking bull. Take care especially if you have a doggy friend along.
WUF Note : Please note that NO DOGS are allowed on ANY of the Wild Stream beats.

A fantastic days fishing, and although fish were rising to a Klinkhammwr, most fish were liking the nymph.
This water does need some knowledge and will challenge you! Thank you WUF for making water like this available.

Fantastic day, with 11 trout landed of 4 to 10 inches (approx). Fished Diawl Bach and Coch y bonddhu, wet early then dry later. The track is in pretty good shape, would have driven my VW transporter down if I'd have known. Well worth a visit, had the entire mountain range (it seemed) to myself+ not bothered by midges unlike some of the streams around.

Glorious evening fishing, with a spectacular.evening rise. There is a long pool with a shelf down the centre at the bottom of the beat, which proved very productive for the evening rise. It holds an incredible head of big fish. I spent the evening guiding for my friend, who had not picked up a rod for 10 years and despite this he had 8 fish in 4 hours.
No heavy hatches but a plethora of different emphemerotera. Were fishing Klinks in the faster water and reverting to size 16 little upwinged, cinnamon or cinnamon and cream patterns for the stiller water. Fish were a bit edgy and a minimum leader length of 16ft seemed necessary for the still water. We were veering towards 2lb test tippet and I would have gone lighter if my friend was striking with a bit more finesse.
A truly evening.

Heavy cloud and light rain in the morning, with slight breeze. A good hatch of yellow mayfly, plus a few mayfly. Conditions good until 11:30, and then the sun came out and everything went quiet. Only morning fished. 10 trout and one grayling. Upwing imitations used (paradun with CDC). Tried nymphs but caught only parr, so stopped using this method. Lovely beat.
