Had a few hours up here after setting up camp at Tan house farm, been a few years since I've had time up here and it used to be pretty tight then but now very tight indeed to fish !
It was carrying some colour still , fair enough ,but there was a fair bit of what looked like land run off sediment on the bed , don't recall it being as bad as it was today in the past .
Nothing doing at all so a Butty Bach and pie at the Crown finished the evening off rather nicely !

The river was low. Seven trout up to half a pound with many times more coming up to investigate a Blonde Wulf or Adams. A good three hours of fun.

2 trout 8”-10” 1 trout 12” plus what a beautiful fish .
In my opinion the upper and lower beats are best fished in the evening.

River very low, and the fish were concentrating more in the fast water and deeper pools. Very bright and difficult conditions all in all. 1 fish taken of about 1lb.

River running up a bit after the recent rain and carrying slight colour. All fish taken on nymphs with very little surface activity. Bankside vegetation growing well making access to some sections a bit tricky.

Was nice to give the Kington beat a bash today , water looked at a lovely height when I tackled up at ten , initially rigged up with a size eighteen tungsten flashback ptn. No obvious rises at the start of the beat , and the first pool after creeping under the bridge produced nothing , which is unusual , as I've had a brownie out of there on the last few visits . . . . .
The first brownie only stayed on for a while , felt like a decent fish , the next did stay , quickly admired then released . The colours of the Arrow trout are always a delight !!!!
Around elevenish some splashy rises started to show , no obvious fly life that I could see they were after , and only a few mayflies showing sporadically , so opted for an eighteen parachute Adams , seemed to do the trick , and had some great fun , only small fish at the heads of pools hitting the dry fly !!!
One decent brownie of about ten inches , but the others were all between six and eight inches , cracking condition , and tubby after feeding well probably on a mix of upwings and caddies. The bed of the river is alive with caddis , and insect life is varied around the river , saw stone flies , few mays and a variety of other upwings . . . . .
Was a nice four hours sport , five Caught and released and several long and short range releases !!!!, Shall give one of the other Arrow beats a crack in a few days , great fun as always . . . . . . . .

I had just over two hours during the afternoon on my first visit to this appealing beat. It was an overcast day and the water was still running a bit cloudy. There was a reasonably good hatch of mayfly and a small amount of surface activity. With first a Grey Wolff and then a Grey Drake I managed to miss an embarrassingly large number of offers (most of them from fairly small fish so far as I could see) and then lost a better size one. It's not always easy to get to the banks above the weir. Beware of the electric fence which rewarded my carelessness by giving my back a terrific thump as I climbed under it!
