With the gauge at Ross showing sub 0.3 wading is possible from the bridge to the ‘pipe’ where you can exit on the right bank, (just beyond new steps and a good 200mtrs below bridge), which gives you access to some terrific fly water. There is a definite lie midstream/midway from bridge to shallows, opposite leaning willow on left bank, as I had a fish there last season and a good pull there this time. The left bank, outside the Island is also an easy stretch with some excellent opportunities at this depth. Even using an intermediate tip and half inch tungsten tube-flies, various patterns, it rarely snagged the bottom. A very pleasant days fishing with no Salmon landed but one bar of silver of approx. 10lb got the heart racing when it jumped right over the rod-tip!

Took advantage of the break between showers to walk part of the beat. A few fish rising but no luck with the dry. One wbt caught on nymph by my 10 year old son who was accompanying me (and exploring under stones). His first trout to the fly! Fantastic!

Great afternoon on a beautifully secluded beat. The water was slightly brown from rain the day before but was very fishable.
I fished a mixture of duo, dry and a heavy pair of nymphs which caught the grayling one of which was 12 inches. I also had 6 trout all in the ten inch range. My duo method is a light nymph on the point with a dry dropper, and had fish on either. I also had a couple of fish on a dry fly only set up. All fish quickly and safely returned. All in all a very pleasant afternoon after some confusion with the directions supplied. Where WUF say to turn off at the Lye signpost. The sign read Upper Lye also the wood at the bottom is called Sned wood and not Sarn wood as informed. If you're giving directions WUF please make sure there correct as The combined mistakes caused a lot of confusion to someone not familiar to the area.

WUF note: We endeavour to keep all our maps and descriptions up to date as best we can, but sometimes with the number of beats we manage one or two can slip through. We apologise for the confusion caused and have amended the notes appropriately. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Unfavourable conditions (weather – windy and showers, river – low and cold, no rising fish, fly life limited) made for a challenging day notwithstanding some of the wading however we made the most of the fabulous surroundings and the varied pools. We will be back. No catch to report (sadly)

No salmon caught or seen. First time out with a spey rod so as much a casting exercise as anything else - actually went quite well! Had a few strong pulls - probably trout, distance released a few trout and had one fat wbt that must have been pushing 3lb to the net, released. Would have been a good day to have the dry fly rod handy, but resisted. Lovely beat, easy access, easy wading and big fish - I'll be back.

Nice to fish this at near on summer levels, was able to wade the upper streamy water with no problems. french nymphed for a couple of hours and picked the bulk of fish up to beadheads then I moved down to the bottom of the beat as not seen it before and there was a steady rise of large fish but sadly most were in the feeding lanes on the far bank. Note for another time!! i netted 4 on dry all well over twelve inches . the rise only lasted 30 minutes and then the river died. One trout lost early nudging 2lb. an enjoyable day , sadly the grayling were far more active than the trout.

Water very low and clear but as usual an abundance of fly life. Very few fish rising so fished a nymph on a Tenkara rod. Trout were in the faster runs into deeper pools. Best today a fine 12 inches from under the bridge.
Also fished the top section today which only has a couple of fishable pools at the moment, one of which produced 3 trout.

Low water conditions. Although gin clear, no single activity spotted. I fished with a nymph for trout and with a small streamer for sea trout. I didn't catch any fish.
