Barbel from the woods and chub and eel from the meadow. Moved around to try to find the fish but struggled using feeder/pellets/paste. Eel came to luncheon meat.

Fantastic day on a beautiful stretch, We caught 10 Barbel and 12 chub between 3 of us.
All fish came on pellets.
Biggest Barbel was 9lb 1oz, all cub were averaging 21/2 to 3lb. We also caught lots of Dace on the stick float with maggots, there are loads of Dace in the Wye at present which is a great sign for the future, some are the herring type but most are a couple of ounces. In a couple of seasons they should be a decent size.

Nice venue and good access to river which looked fine, fast but not too high. Weather was bright with a strong wind from lunchtime. Parked up in second parking area after talking to Game keeper / Owner who said it was not fishing well the day before due to Bright Sunshine.
I fished a steady glide below the parking, current was faster than it looked and 60g feeder did not hold bottom, 75g ledger did also tried float trotting (at speed), few bites on ledger but only managed some Gudgeon . I should have moved down stream to slower water and not settled in one spot - my bad.
Great views of a family of Red Kites which were around most of the day.

Water still pretty high at just under 2 ft on the LLanstephan gauge, but running fairly clear and not too many leaves. Client CE from Cardiff took 22 grayling by various methods: dry fly, wet fly and trotting. Best fish 15, 16 and 17 inches. I think one out of season trout.

First time on the Ifron for us. Beautiful autumn scenery and a thin Welsh drizzle to keep us company during the day. Caught a lovely 1.3lb grayling on my fourth or fifth cast of the day along a riffle in the mud pool, it fell to a red tag. The beat has an array of features and during the day managed to hook three more graying of various sizes and a tiny OOS brownie. Two took a size 16 GH green nymph and the others took an olive klinkhammer from the surface. I lost three and managed to break my 5 weight rod tip while landing a half pound grayling at the far end of the beat. Its a long walk back to the van in waders to get a spare rod. Top stretch of water, worthy of another try.

First time on beat. 3 hours between 12 and 3pm. Grey and damp autumn afternoon. Lovely stream although access to the water was tricky on some stretches for someone exploring it for the first time. one 9 inch grayling caught on ptn fished under a dry.
