A half-hour rise around 4pm, by very small trout. The one I landed was a 6" troutling, returned.

Very little sign of any fish rising until mid afternoon despite seemingly ideal conditions on this lovely stretch of river. When the fish finally did take an interest in surface fly (I tried various nymphs sub-surface before this), I started to get quite a bit of interest in my Klinkhammer offering. Unfortunately for me I seemed unable to connect, probably because I was a little too eager (striking too early?) on my first day out this year. Eventually I did manage to connect and with a wonderful fish around 18" in length which put-up a significant fight; very satisfying.

3 trout on small PTN 1 on dry fly,all 6-8". Odd fish rising.

Perfect weather conditions.
River was 1 foot too low.
No fish showed throughout our time on the river
Used a variety of Flies, but mostly size 12 or smaller.
Fished a total of 7 hours each

Started well with small trout on surface then howling and cold wind put paid to the fun.
No shortage of rises in the early hour before sense prevailed.

Both fish taken on nymphs, and safely returned.
