Heavy rain but river low and clear. Not many fish showing but they were there, Grayling (1/2lb max) all came to dry fly and trout (3/4lb) to ptn. Good variety of water to fish across a long beat though access difficult through wooded section and stiles over fences decrepit.

Very nice river to fish. Used mainly french nymph tactics with peeping caddis on the point and florescent orange bead GRHE on the dropper. Most fish were caught in fast - ish cobbled bottom runs in water depths of 1-1.5m and at reach (not right under the rod tip). The best times to fish were first light up to around 0900 and then after 1500
All of the fish were under a pound and I had a lot of double hook ups

Well, the Edw certainly delivered again!! Brought 26 trout to hand, about half being little ones from the fast shallow runs, the rest a good average up to 11". All on a size 18 para adams, and all fit and healthy. Got the first from a shallow run as I was just starting, and so carried on trying to hook the little ones from the fast runs as well as exploring the deeper runs and pools. All great fun, and did not even fish the full beat.

I have fished this spot since 1985 as a child on/off when a salmon syndicate used to lease it. It's always been a great spot for chub on the floating crust. The best water level to fish however is the lower wall level on the weir gardens side. So the recent drought we have is not really perfect. 6 great chub however and a big pike around 10-15lb chasing my sons rapala J11. My biggest pike from here is 27lb on a Roach dead bait. It's great to see salmon pink also in the fast water and trout jumping too. I didn't try barbel as this is a new species in this location. So it was great to bring the family over from ireland to savour my old haunt and the wye usk foundation have done a great job in keeping this fishery in a healthy condition.
