Lovely day on my favourite wye water - good fishing height and great to practice with a new switch rod. No salmon seen or caught despite decent water height, though I did manage a small brownie so not a blank day. Will be back again in the summer to cover the hotspots once again and hopefully more fish around.

Couple of hairy moments wading the top of the Mill Race - Do exercise caution. Note to other fishermen the shop in Boughrood does coffee, but is closed 1-2. Pub the other side of the bridge was closed : (

Great morning fishing, only thing is I was at my fish limit by 10:30

It was a lovely stretch of river but it was a shame that the river was really dirty; there were plastics, empty cans and other litters everywhere. After an hour of fishing I packed up.

WUF Note: With regard to the litter, Merthyr Tydfil Angling Association work very hard in removing it from their stretch of the Taff. Unfortunately, it is a curse on this and many other urban rivers across the UK but please be assured efforts will continue to clean them up.

I fished the lower section in the morning , no sign of fish or insects..saw goosanders and a mink. Gave up around midday , too early in the season I guess.

I moved from the Cammarch around midday and fished the Edw from 1.30 until 5.30. Fishing was dead on the Cammarch but the Edw was buzzing! 6 of the 8 were caught fishing duo with a size 18 tungsten bead PTN the other 2 came to size 14 olive klinkhammer. Kingfisher flashing by and an intense simultaneous hatch of olives and little black midges...fish were preoccupied by the midges which I couldn't match and after having eaten their fill could not be tempted by anything else.

3 beautiful fish; 15, 15 and 19 inches. all on 14 tungsten GRHE from fast necks. fantastic hatch of LDO in middle of day but couldn't tempt anything with any of my dry flies, loads of takes but fish very picky or sensitive to wading. great beat, will be back.

6 trout taken on a adult and child ticket. 1 on legered worm the rest on spinner. All between 10am and 12. Three for my boy and me. Just under and over 2lb all of them. Cold start, water levels good. Not bad for a morning fishing. Bailiff was helpful and polite. Talking to other anglers, Maggot bay was doing well.

Caught 5 trout. One brown at around midday 12-13 inches which was returned. Nothing for most of the afternoon, very few takes on worm and ledger about 40 feet out. Spinner did get a few takes but nothing caught. 4 rainbow between 4.30 and 6 using worm and ledger with a 2 foot trace. Turns out the fish were pretty close in, only about 10 or 15 feet off the bank. Great day fishing and will return.

Only able to fish for a couple of hours in the morning. Fished the lower stretch with nymphs but no fish caught.

Lovely beat. river quite clear with the trouts mainly sunbathing at the pool's tails. small olive hatch but very few proper rises.
managed to loose 3 trouts, one on the nymph and two on the dry.
