1st time we have fished this section, we thought the swims were limited.
The river was in perfect condition and dropping. My friend fished for Barbel and blanked. I fished the float and caught all day, 2 trout, small salmon par, 3 grayling, loads of dace, 1 good chub and some chublets. There are so many dace of about 5 inches long in the river. In 2 to 3 years it will hopefully be like it was 40 years ago when you could win matches with 70lb of dace. There definitely has been an explosion of young dace and chub which bodes well for the future.
Overall a lovely day.

Spent a couple of hours fishing the bottom half of this beat (EA gauge at 0.42m) river running clear and a little up. A few fish rising but all caught on weighted Pearly PTN (on jig hook) or Longparish Diver (on a jig hook). The 'other' fish was a 15cms Perch. Grayling 20-35 cm and the OOS was trout 25cms.

River was certainly up a few feet with colour since my last visit in September with a lot of debris. The fishing was disappointing on the whole but I guess timing is everything like all rivers at this time of year. 2 chub, 2 eels and lost a very good barbel at dusk.

River level dropping and not quite so coloured after the recent rain, but still pushing through. After changing swims and settling down during the afternoon, finally got some action with 5 barbel all of the 6-8lb size, plus 2 decent chub one of which was 5.2lb. All taken on pellet feeder tactics.

This was the final day for the 3 of us, of a 3 day trip. We have been trying to get a first Barbel for one of our number for over a year and with the conditions being fairly bad we didn't hold out much hope. But with an hour and a half til sunset, SH caught an absolutely pristene 5lb'der on meat, that made the trip worth while :) The 2 Chub were also caught on meat, and the bits were caught on maggot. Thanks WUF. We'll be back!

Having been washed off the main river, WUF were fantastic in their efforts to find us some fishable water and we ended up at Luggsbridge on the Lugg. A delightful stretch that reminded us of the rivers we fished in our youth. Nothing would come to large baits, but we did have some great sport on maggot with Dace, and Chub to 3lb.
